Coming To A Theatre Near You: Bookish Films

Movie franchises like Harry Potter and Twilight have catapaulted YA to soaring heights, so it's no surprise that Young Adult is taking over both the litarary world and the silver scrren. Yet YA isn't the only genre that Hollywood's exploring-- just watch the trailer for Anna Karenina and you'll see that the classics have their fair share of movie adaptations as well. And with books like Divergent getting the film rights snatched up before the series is even completed, there's going to be no shortage of bookish remakes coming to theatres near you. Here are some of the movies I'm looking forward to in December and 2013:

In Theatres (December 2012)

Coming in 2013

So, tell me, which movies are you looking forward to in 2013? Are there any other YA series you'd like to see on the big screen? Are there any books you DON'T want made into movies?

  1. I am so excited for Warm Bodies! I haven't read the book so maybe I should do that first.

    1. I know! The book is at the top of my TBR list right now, although, I'm torn about reading it before or after seeing the film.

    1. I read Anna Karenina in my AP English Class in high school and, honestly, hated it but I am open to seeing the film version. It looks so beautifully done and I just love Keira Knightly!

    1. I saw what was supposed to be a trailer for Catching Fire at the new Breaking Dawn (I only went because of my mom, I swear) and was highly disappointed to see that it was only the logo. Ah, well. That and those sexy water photos from the set will just have to do for now.

  4. You and I are so on the same page:) I want to see every one of these. I just saw the trailer for Warm Bodies in the theatre, OMG it looks hilarious! I'm worried about Life of Pi, because it's one of my all-time faves, but I've heard it's amazing.

    1. I know! Other than Catching Fire, Warm Bodies is probably the one I'm most excited to see! I haven't read Life of Pi yet but I will after I watch the film. I've heard great things so far.

  5. Let's be honest, I'm never going to read Anna, so I might as well cheat and see the move instead! Warm Bodies I definitely want to see, even if it looks a little bit cheesy. Must read book first, but I cannot find where I've put it!

And of course, the second Hunger Games is a must see, because I couldn't just stop with the first one!

  6. I am looking forward to Catching Fire so much. I'm a little worried though, because I loved The Hunger Games movie so much that I don't know if Catching Fire will live up to my expectations. I don't even like movies that much, and I saw the Hunger Games 3 times in theaters. Sometimes, I think I even liked it slightly more than the book(heresy for a book lover, I know).
