Top Ten Books I'd Want On A Deserted Island

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Combining both a passion for all things bookish with an obsessive love of list-making, this rad meme was born. This week’s topic is Top Ten Books I'd Want On A Deserted Island.

This one is a toughie because I'm torn between books that would keep me forever satiated and books that are practical for, well, being stuck on a deserted island. Looking at my list, I'd say entertainment wins out (but not by much). Being stuck on a deserted island with some awesome bookies doesn't sound so bad after all, does it?

So let's start out with the practical:

The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks - Because you never know.

SAS Survival Handbook: How to Survive in the Wild, in Any Climate, on Land or at Sea by John "Lofty" Wiseman - Have you seen Bear Grylls? The man is JACKED. Also these guys are the creme de la creme of the survival world, so yeah, this is a must.

Identifying and Harvesting Edible and Medicinal Plants in Wild (and Not So Wild) Places by Steve Brill & Evelyn Dean - A girl's gotta eat.

The Worst Case Scenario Survival Handbook by Joshua Piven & David Borgenicht -

I want to know --- What books would you bring with you? Are you more practical with your choices or do you prefer to be entertained? And is being stuck on a deserted island really so bad?

  1. Awesome books - although The Zombie Survival Guide would just make me depressed. But imagine if there were zombies on the deserted island? Freak out!

    Waldo is a great idea!

    1. I know what you mean, Kat. But hey, always be prepared. Besides, there's a special place in my heart for Mr. Brooks (and his AH-MAZING father). And Waldo, OMG, I still love Waldo books even as an almost-30-something-adult. Is that sad?
