Top Ten Books on Your Fall TBR List

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Combining both a passion for all things bookish with an obsessive love of list-making, this rad meme was born. This week’s topic is the Top Ten Books on Your Fall TBR List (listed in no particular order).
The Map of Time by Felix Palma - Time travel, literary classics and Dracula. C’mon! This book is right up my alley. I mean, couldn’t you see this being a totally eerie sci-fi movie? And did you check out that Victorian-esque cover art? I picked up this book in the airport and immediately I was sold.

Moonlight and Ashes by Sophie Masson –I’m always excited to check out fresh adaptations on the classic fairy tales that I love so much. I’ll pretty much take anything involving magic and adventure.

The Lost Labyrinth by Will Adams – I have a particular fancy for the historical fiction genre and this is book 3 of a series I’ve been following for the last several years. I recently listened to the audio versions of books 1 and 2 and look forward to catching back up with two of my favourite archaeologists, Daniel Knox and Gaille Bonnard.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern – Between recommendations from blogging buddies and friends alike, I knew I needed to read this. Not to mention, I’m a total sucker when it comes to weird YA romances.

Day by Day Armageddon: Shattered Hourglass by J.L. Bourne – This is another series that I’ve listened to on audiobook and loved. I love pretty much anything post-zombie apocalypse and have been eagerly awaiting the conclusion to this action-packed trilogy.

Deadlocked by Charlaine Harris – Don’t get me wrong, once upon a time I loved me some True Blood (the TV show and books), but I have to be honest with you. I’m kinda over it. Be that as it may, I’ve been a loyal fan from the very get-go so I’m going to stick with it through to the end.

The Last Unicorn by Peter Beagle – Again, another recommendation from some blogging buddies. I really dig fantasy novels so anything that’s in the same vain as Alice in Wonderland or The Hobbit is a-okay with me.

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak – This book has hit all of the bestseller lists and received nothing but rave reviews. “This is an unforgettable story about the ability of books to feed the soul.” Who wouldn’t want to read a book like that?

A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire) by George R.R. Martin – I recently finished watching Season 1 of the show and completely fell in love with it. Now it’s time to see if the show did the novels any justice!

Portrait of a Killer: Jack the Ripper--Case Closed by Patricia Cornwell – I have a sick obsession with the unsolved Ripper murders, so I’m always intrigued by anything involving this case. Throw your theories at me because I will completely devour them!

What do you think of my choices? Have you read any already? Which books rank at the top of your TBR list this fall?

  1. I am also sticking with Sookie through the end! I also love the sound of Moonlight and Ashes. Am adding it to my TBR. Great pick.

  2. Thanks so much! Let me know what you think of Moonlight and Ashes. The first like five or six books of the Sookie series were so great but eventually I feel like Harris lost her way. She just needs to wrap it all up and give our gal a happy ending of some kind already!

I've only seen a couple of episodes of Game of Thrones, but what I saw followed the book quite closely. Now, if HBO didn't want $50 for 12 measly episodes...I might have seen more. :D

And I really need to read The Night Circus. I have like...$60 in amazon cards, why have I not ordered this yet?

  4. Haha, I totally know what you mean. I'm perpetually a season behind on all of my favourite HBO shows because I'm too cheap (and by cheap, I mean poor) to want to pay for cable TV. I have to suffice with waiting for the DVD's to come out on Netflix. But I digress, the show is awesome and I can't wait to read the novelisations.

Good questions. Why HAVE you not ordered it yet? :P

  5. You are making me add to my wishlist! I've been meaning to read Markus Zusak since forever.
The Map of Time and the Patricia Cornwell novel sound good too. Great list.
I'm aiming to read a few Stephen King novels this Fall. At least two.
