Top Ten (Not Another One!) TBR Series

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Combining both a passion for all things bookish with an obsessive love of list-making, this rad meme was born. This week's post is Top Ten TBR Series.

Ya know, it feels like everything that's released these days is a part of a series. And while I do enjoy reading them, sometimes it can be a bit daunting. I mean, that's a lot of committment especially when there are more than three books in the series! Plus, it doesn't help that I'm totally OCD and once I start, I pretty much have to READ ALL THE BOOKS, like, from start to finish right then and there. So yeah, I'm weary about them but I have a feeling these ten offer quite a bit of promise.

(All published and non-published but titled books in the series are listed, including novellas)

The Wolves of Mercy Falls by Maggie Stiefvater
Books - Shiver , Linger & Forever

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

The Grisha by Leigh Bardugo

Books - Venom & Belladonna

The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor

A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin

All Souls by Deborah Harkness

The Monstrumologist by Rick Yancey

Newsflesh Trilogy by Mira Grant
Books - Countdown , Feed , Fed , Deadline & Blackout

Have you started any of these series? If so, did you enjoy them? Are you ever intimidated by reading series with more than three books? And which series top your list? Feel free to throw recommendations my way!

  1. I so want to read Game of Thrones too! You must read the Shiver series. They're so wonderful. Cinder and Scarlet too. I actually have my review of Scarlet up today.

    1. I find Game of Thrones slightly intimidating due to the sheer length of the series, so for now, I've made due with watching the show. One day I'll definitely get around to actually reading the books.

I have Shiver downloaded on my Nook, I just need to actually read it now! And I'm SUPER excited for the Lunar Chronicles. Everyone seems to love that one!

  2. Ooooh, great list Nikki! You must read Cinder (I still need to get to Scarlet), awesome book! And even though I didn't put them on my list, I totally agree with Game of Thrones and Shadow & Bone. Have fun reading and good luck:)

  3. The Game of Thrones books are worth the effort! I read all the books straight through last year, and even though it was overwhelming, I'm so glad I did... except now we have to wait a few years for the next one! I've been wanting to check out The Monstrumologist and the Newsflesh books. Great list!

    1. I know, I know! I need to get over my bookish fears and just bite but bullet because I know they're going to be worth the time and effort. One day I'll actually do it... one day. Thanks, Lisa!

  5. Great list! Some of these are on my wishlist. I didn't know Cinder was part of a series. I definitely want to read the Mira Grant and the George R.R. Martin ones.

I know what you mean, it seems every book is part of a series lately. It's gotten to where I'll check to make sure the books I'm buying are not part of a series because I hate not finishing all the books.
My guilty pleasure series is Gena Showalter's Lords of The Underworld, which is a paranormal romance series that I fell for hook line and sinker a few years back. But I read only like one installment per year because I don't have the time for them! lol That series is plenty of fun though, I like the tortured heroes she's created. Some are scarred, they house demons within them, they are angry, there's mythology involved...etc...etc... :P

    1. Thanks, Naida! Cinder is indeed a part of a series (and a good one from what I keep hearing).

I know exactly how you feel. As much as I love series, there are so many books I want to read that it's hard to justify the time and emotional investment in them. I really need to be captured by the story in order to continue on, despite my reading OCD begging me to read them all right then and there. Hmmm... Lords of the Underworld, you say? Sounds intriguing...

  6. I've thought about reading the Shiver series too. I'm just a bit over paranormal at the moment, but I've heard good things.

  8. I like to read series from start to finish as well! I LOVE Mercy Falls and The Lunar Chronicles, and I just finished the second in The Grisha Trilogy and it was fantastic! Deborah Harkness's All Souls series is pretty awesome too. I haven't read any of the others but I keep hearing about The Monstrumologist, as well as Yancy's new book. Great list. Thanks for checking out mine!

    1. I think I'm definitely a little OCD with my reading habits (and in life, in general) so it's hard for me to get into series that haven't all been released yet. It also doesn't help that I'm incredibly impatient, too!

I'm super excited about the Grisha series and I've had Harkness' All Souls series on my list for quite some time. I'm dedicating much of this year to playing catch-up, so I'm hoping to be able to get through those books soon. Thanks for stopping by, Wendy!

I just started the Game of Thrones series, and while I am a bit overwhelmed by the sheer volume of the series, I'm loving it so far. I watched the first season of the T.V. series before starting the first novel, but it hasn't spoiled my enjoyment of the book.

    1. That's really good to know seeing as I've only seen the 1st season so far (and haven't yet read the books)! Do you think the series does a decent job of translating the novel to the screen?
