Okay, I know it's Friday and all but I have a question for those of you who use blogger. Have ya'll been getting inundated with spammy comments lately? I know I have and it's SUPER frustrating. What solutions have you employed to rid yourselves of this irksome problem? Have they worked?

A quick note to the Spammers: Hey you! Spammy spammers! Stop leaving your garfunkling spamtastic comments for me and my friends, mmmk! Noone cares. Rant over.

Back to good things, like boozy Friday nights and fun links from them interwebs. TGIF, folks!

Bookish News

Flavorwire gives us a delicious look at some very detailed literary cakes. YUM!

And to go along with your cake, why not indulge in some awesome activities --- like making these rather impressive literary lego projects.

Or, if legos aren't your thing, how about participating in something a bit more cultural --- go and visit  the world's most superbly bookish statues.

Plagiarism rears its ugly head yet again in the bookish community and this time The New Yorker bears the brunt of the heat.

Things NOT to ask your favourite author.

They're here. Check out the official Hunger Games: Catching Fire character portraits. Which ones are your favs? I'm kind of partial to Cinna, myself.

Writing Tips

March 4th was National Grammar Day. How did you celebrate?

Okay, so they may be more design related than anything, but these animals made out of their own names are just too cute to pass up!

  1. I have been getting spam comments more than usual, but not nearly as bad as I've seen in the past. I have comment moderation on old posts, so I think they try to comment on a popular post, it doesn't show up, so then they give up? Maybe? And all I end up with is one email notification about a spam comment. In the past I've had spammers who methodically go through and comment on each and every post on the blog. Ugh!

    1. Yikes! At least I don't have that problem with them commenting on anything and everything. I guess I've just seen it spike higher than normal. But thanks for the tips! I'll have to try the comment moderation thing then.

  2. 1. I love those animals created from their name. How cute and fun to try to pick out the letters.

    2. Those cakes look amazing and delicious!

    3. I have been getting a crazy amount of anonymous spam posts recently. Usually blogger catches them and are just in my comment spam folder, but not always. It is annoying. I have no tips to offer, just had to tell you that you are not alone.

I saw those literary cakes, and they are just too cute. Those Catching Fire character portraits are very niiiice! Cinna is my daughters fav character too.
Thanks for the links, that Writer Unboxed site is very interesting. I've bookmarked it.
As far as Spammers go, they suck! I haven't been getting spam comments on my book blog, that I've noticed anyway. What a pain though. Comment moderation is always an option though. I had to set that up that at my crochet blog, because I was getting spammed over there.
Happy weekend!! I'm trying to catch up on my blog hopping today, it's been a busy week.

Yeah, I'm considering the whole comment moderation thing because the spam is just super annoying. I really hope it'll taper off though. Hope you had a fabulous weekend (with amazing weather!).

    1. I hope so too! Catching Fire was my favourite of the three books so I have some pretty high expectations for this one. November can't come soon enough!
