Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly feature hosted
by The
Broke and the Bookish. Combining both a passion for all things bookish with
an obsessive love of list-making, this rad meme was born. This week's topic is the Top Ten Worlds You'd Never Want To Live In. They say triumph is born of tragedy, however, I'm not one to envy these characters or their situations, even if it breeds greatness. The real world is scary enough.
So, what do you think? I could only think of 9 examples but they're definitely pretty gloomy. Are there any worlds that scare the crap out of you?
Game of thrones: NO thanks. Doesn't matter what kind of character you are, you're probably going do die anyway. The red wedding.. CRUEL.
ReplyDeleteThe coldest girl: I haven't read the book, but I recently read a short story and it doesn't sound like a happy place.
The purge: Damn scary picture.. and the idea is horrible.
THG: No thanks to me too.
I KNOW! Martin is a sadistic, sadistic man. OMG and you HAVE to read Coldest Girl, it's SO good!
DeleteI put the Hunger Games and Not a Drop to Drink on my list, too. Your point about Not a Drop to Drink is very sobering. I agree with you, it's just sad to think of it like that.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it scary? Like, that could really happen! I think that one scares me most on this list, for sure.
DeleteI totally forgot about Coldtown when making my list. That is a really good one. I would not want to be stuck there forever. Ugh. And Everyday would be horrible....being in a new body everyday, that would be so hard. No thanks.
ReplyDeleteI think Everyday is sort of an unusual one because you typically think of dystopian/horror words as being some of the worst, but yeah, not having your own body would be pretty horrifying.
DeleteGreat list! We've got some of the same books on our lists. On a side note, I had NO idea The Purge was a book! I saw the movie and I thought it was such a horrifying concept. Might have to check out the book!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I decided to include a few movies on the list so I don't actually think The Purge is a book. Either way, it's still very scary!
DeleteOooh, I love your layout for this post! I thought about Every Day -- what an awful way to go through life, especially the total lack of control over where you end up or who you get to be with. That book was amazing. Great list!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I was trying something new so I'm really glad it paid off!
DeleteNot a Drop to Drink made my list today too! Nicole picked the Hunger Games as well. I have never heard of the purge but man that is one creepy book cover!
ReplyDeleteAshley @ The Quiet Concert
Both pretty scary concepts, right?! And yeah, I think The Purge is only a movie but if you're into scary stuff, I definitely recommend it. It's soooo creepy!
